My Story
Janet Levy has called Palm Beach home for the past 15 years. Janet is the Co- Founder of the Janet and Mark Levy Charitable Foundation.She was born and raised in Connecticut. Janet has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in psychology.
In 1979, Janet founded a company called J & S Office Furniture and Interiors, inc in New Haven, Connecticut. After obtaining her real estate license, she began selling and leasing commercial office buildings during a time when few woman ventured into the commercial and business market. Janet often renovated and re-designed the properties and sold them the office furniture . It became a very successful company
While in Connecticut , Janet’s philanthropic endeavors included active involvement with the United Way, the Ronald McDonald House, Toys for Tots, JDRF, Pediatric AIDS Foundation as well as a board member of The Foote School in New Haven.
In 2005, Janet & her husband purchased a home in Palm Beach and 4 years later moved there as full time residents. In Palm Beach, she became involved with many philanthropic endeavors. One of her early charitable ventures included chairing and overseeing three major Galas held at the Breakers Hotel for the University of Miami, Department of Neurology with celebrities like Jay Leno, Jim Belushi and Dana Carvey.
Currently, Janet holds a prominent role on the Advisory Board for the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University of Miami's Neurological Department.
In addition to her support for healthcare causes, Janet is actively involved with cultural and historical institutions. She contributed her time and resources to the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., . She is currently on the Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation board as well as the Palm Beach Safeguard board. Janet holds memberships in the Palm Beach Historical Society, Norton Museum, Palm Beach Preservation Society, Palm Beach Civic Association, Flagler Museum and St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Janet's philanthropic impact spans a wide range of organizations, including Children's Home Society, The Pap Corps, St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, Salvation Army, St. Ann Place, Ballet Florida, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, American Heart and Stroke Association, The National Pancreas Foundation, and Leaders in Furthering Education.
She also has actively participated and chaired many Palm Beach galas including the Center for Family Service’s Old Bags luncheon in 2017, Salvation Army Christmas Gala in 2018, the Pap Corps Imagination Gala in 2022, and the Pancreas Foundation in 2023. Janet has played a pivotal role in the growth of Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope in Palm Beach. She was a founding chair of Cancer Alliance's , ‘Shop The Day Away’ luncheon and founded, chaired and heavily supported the “Dance The Night Away” evening event.
Recognizing her contributions of time and resources to various Palm Beach charitable endeavors, Janet was honored with the Charity Volunteer of the Year award by the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce in 2022 and received the Humanitarian of the Year award at the Hero Gala in 2024.
In June 2024, she was instrumental in establishing the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Foundation which she is very excited about. Over the past few years, Janet has learned that sometimes charities in Palm Beach lose their way and forget their most vital mission of making a difference in people's lives. With a team of prominent like -minded people in our community who are willing to give up their time and valuable resources to help people in need, Janet is determined never to ever let that happen again with this new organization.
